"I can smell autumn dancing in the breeze. The sweet chill of pumpkin, and crisp sunburnt leaves." - Ann Drake
You could even say that this is Mother Nature at her best: nurturing, comforting, cozying and wrapping warm blankets around ourselves.
Perhaps like me you can still almost feel the taste of the summer sun on your skin and yearn for that heat - but we cannot deny the beauty and heart of this time of year.
We are preparing for the journey inward during the winter months and so we take time for self-care.
The cycles of the earth are part of every cell in our bodies. Whether we are stuck inside an office every day or connected with Mother Nature outside, those seasons are still going on.
Our cells know what is happening and my passion is to help you honour this cycle, connect to the beauty of your soul and not come down with a 6 month long cold!
Here are my top Autumn tips:
1 - Eat apples. This anti-inflammatory fruit is number 1 for fighting off sickness. (NB: unless you follow a FODMAP diet).
2 - Spend some time alone. Spring and summer are the time for coming out of your shell to socialise. Autumn and winter are your opportunity to go within and pause.
3 - Soups & Stews. Make warming Soups and Stews with root veggies. They nourish the soul and are super grounding. Potatoes are number 1 for stress and PTSD so keep adding those into your diet (no oil though!)
4 - Frozen Fruit - to keep your smoothies going during the winter I always turn to frozen fruit - especially mango and pineapple.
5 - On Guard DoTERRA oil. Get the protective blend going in your diffuser, on your feet and even put it in your homemade mouth wash. It’s incredible at banishing bugs! Click here if you'd like to order.
6 - Tea! Stock up on Lemon Balm tea, nettle tea and peppermint tea. These should always be part of your self-care toolkit!
7 - Immune Boost: Download my Immune Boost Detox Plan for when you start to feel sickness / cold coming on. Click here.
8 - Snuggle. Snuggle with those you love. Spend time reflecting, talking, intimately sharing what’s going on with you both (all) so you know what your intentions for next year will be.
9 - Play. Make time to connect to joyful, playful moments. In my darkest times I have found playing the hardest thing to do - and yet it was one of the most cellularly rewarding things. My heart would soar and my hope would come back.
I’d love to know if there are other tips you have that make your autumn time feel special. Please share below!
